Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz could lose the rights to many of her most acclaimed photographs if she doesn’t pay back a 24-million-dollar loan by Tuesday. The list of photos includes the Demi Moore’s pregnant Vanity Fair cover, the controversial Miley Cyrus photo from last year and even her landmark Rolling Stone cover photo of a naked John Lennon laying on Yoko Ono.
Annie used her photo catalog along with homes for collateral on a loan reported to be 40-million-dollars.
In related news, Annie is facing a lawsuit by an Italian photographer claiming she used his shots without permission. Paolo Pizzetti wants 300-thousand-dollars from Liebovitz and a court to stop his photos from being distributed.
We hope Annie can pull out of this, it would be a shame for an artist to lose the rights to their own art. XO
