Roman

It looks like Roman Polanski is staying put for awhile.

Neither his own legal team nor some A-list Hollywood types could convince the Swiss Justice Ministry to release the Oscar-winning filmmaker from a Zurich jail.

E! News reports: Officials declined to free Polanski in a ruling today, one week after he was apprehended on an international warrant stemming from a 31-year-old statutory rape conviction.

Now maybe Polanski can take advantage of his time behind bars and think of what he has done while his legal team battles in a separate court to prevent his extradition back to California. No word yet when that hearing will happen, but it’s expected by the end of the month.

The decision not to let him out on bail or house arrest was made after the government deemed the Polish-born Polanski to be a high flight risk.

This is great news!
