If you remember the movie trailer parody shown at the BET awards titled, “Skank Robbers” starring Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence, then you probably remember the controversy surrounding it.
Some had argued that the video goes over the top, producing stereotypical images of black women to the point of being offensive. Referring to women as “skanks” was enough to anger many African Americans, but there was also a point in the video in which the narrator says, “From the producers of ‘Planet of the Apes’.”
Now it looks like “Skank Robbers” is going to be a movie, acquired by Screen Gems.
Hmmm….
Check out the trailer below and please share your thoughts? Is this controversial or just plain humor?

Well, I’m not a African American woman, but where I grew up, I was considererd the minority, so to me this is just over the top humor with similarities of over the top behavior which at times does exist. I mean come on, how many times has the “dumb” blonde been over exaggerated in a film and still continues to be a mockery. It’s just humor people, so you’ll either watch it and laugh or ignore it for being ridiculous. x
