Courtney Love is the first celebrity being sued over her comments on Twitter… YES… even beating out Tila Tequila and John Mayer. A slander suit was filed against Courtney by designer Dawn Simorangkir. Courtney tried to get the case dismissed, and Dawn tried to get a final judgment without a trial. So Tuesday, Courtney’s lawyers asked a judge for their day in court, to defend her right to free speech, which was granted.
This could be a precedent-setting case. It would be one thing if Courtney went on Larry King and defamed someone, but since people CHOOSE to read Courtney’s opinions, (become her Twitter follower) how is that slander? Freedom of speech please… we’re all entitled to our opinions!
