Robert Halderman, the man who tried to blackmail David Letterman out of $2 million for keeping his inner-office affairs secret, pled guilty to one count of attempted grand larceny in the second degree. He was sentenced to 6 months in jail, 5 years probation, and 1,000 hours of community service.
Halderman also apologized in the courtroom, saying, “I have great remorse and sincerely apologize to David Letterman and Stephanie Birkitt. I attempted to extort $2 million from David Letterman.”
Gotta give the guy credit for owning up to his actions and pleading guilty. Financial hardship can bring out the worst in people.
