RUSH Documentary Coming To Vh1

Fans who viewed the special movie-theater screenings of the new Rush documentary are raving about the film.  ”Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage” is the end result of extensive interviews with the band.  Geddy Lee talked to RollingStone.com about the films production, saying he had his doubts when Sam Dunn and Scot McFadyen first approached the band about the film.  He said, “We thought, ‘How foolish are these guys? We’re just this dull band. I remember Neil [Peart] asked them rather pointedly, ‘What’s your angle? What’s the story you want to tell?’”  It was when Dunn and McFadyen admitted that they had no specific agenda, that the band gave them their blessing to go ahead with the documentary.  (Now that’s artistic integrity!)
The rock doc can be seen Saturday June 26 on Vh1 and Vh1 Classic.  It includes appearances from Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Billy Corgan and “South Park” creator Matt Stone.
Lyrics any entertainer can understand… from the song the film’s title comes from.
Limelight
Living on a lighted stage
Approaches the unreal
For those who think and feel
In touch with some reality
Beyond the gilded cage
Cast in this unlikely role
Ill-equipped to act
With insufficient tact
One must put up barriers
To keep oneself intact
Living in the limelight
The universal dream
For those who wish to seem
Those who wish to be
Must put aside the alienation
Get on with the fascination
The real relation
The underlying theme
Living in a fish eye lens
Caught in the camera eye
I have no heart to lie
I can’t pretend a stranger
Is a long-awaited friend
All the world’s indeed a stage
And we are merely players
Performers and portrayers
Each another’s audience
Outside the gilded cage

RIO – SNEAK PEEK

movie-tickets-popcorn“Rio” is a 3-D animation feature from the makers of the “Ice Age” films.

Set in the magnificent city of Rio de Janeiro and the lush rainforest of Brazil, the comedy-adventure centers on Blu, a rare macaw who thinks he is the last of his kind. When Blu discovers there’s another — and that she’s a she — he leaves the comforts of his cage in small town Minnesota and heads to Rio. But it’s far from love at first sight between the domesticated and flight-challenged Blu and the fiercely independent, high-flying female, Jewel. Unexpectedly thrown together, they embark on an adventure of a lifetime, where they learn about friendship, love, courage, and being open to life’s many wonders.

“Rio” brings together a menagerie of vivid characters, a heart-warming story, colorful backdrops, energizing Latin and contemporary music, and family-friendly song and dance.

MPAA rating: Not Yet Rated
Runtime: Still In Production

In Theaters: Friday, April 8, 2011
