Madonna: Fashion, DVD, And Libido

Many updates from the Madonna camp; she has a new fashion line coming to Macy’s, a tour DVD ready for release… and she had quite the fun night with Gerard Butler!
First her fashion line:  Madonna’s “Material Girl” collection (in collaboration with her daughter Lourdes) is set to launch just in time for back-to-school shopping this August.  It’s a line of junior clothing, targeting teens, that includes handbags, shoes and jewelry.  They’re even considering a new fragrance for 2011.  Macy’s has promised more collections will be developed if the “Material Girl” line does well.
The Lourdes empire begins at age 13.
Secondly, there’s Madonna’s new tour DVD coming out next month.  The CD/DVD and Blue Ray release of the “Sticky & Sweet” tour, in Buenos Aires, hits stores April 2nd.  It includes a half hour of behind the scenes footage.  The CD features 13 live songs.
And last but not least… Madonna partied it up with Gerard Butler at an Oscar after-party on Sunday night.  A witness says, “She was putting on the full-court press, totally charming him… and even challenged him to a dance-off!  They were grinding in the middle of the room real close and then Demi [Moore] joined in… It was hot!  Gerard was loving all the attention.”  After the dance-off Gerard and Madonna “huddled in a corner” for a while before Madonna left the party alone.
Sounds like Madonna! We wouldn’t want to try beating her in a dance-off any day, but we appreciate her competitive spirit.
Finally, Madonna will be appearing on the NBC show “The Marriage Ref” next Thursday, March 11th.
Whew, it’s a busy life!

Mary J. Blige Has A Whole Lotta Love For Led Zeppelin

Mary J. Blige will be bringing even more soul to a couple Led Zeppelin tunes on her upcoming reissue of “Stronger With Each Tear.”  In addition to her cover of “Stairway to Heaven”, she’s doing a version of “Whole Lotta Love.” (!!)  Mary says, “I am a Led Zeppelin fan.  I’m not going to say I’ve been to their concerts, but I’ve listened to their music since I was a child, and it’s always moved me.”
Look for Mary J.’s new reissue in stores March 15th.
Imagine the combination of the “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul” and the bluesy hard edge of Zeppelin.  For some reason, “Stairway to Heaven” is MUCH easier to imagine than “Whole Lotta Love” !  WOW!
Just for fun, here’s the Zep version…

Jaicko Readies Major Label Debut And Releases New Single

44592

Jaicko first introduced his Carribean-infused, soulful sound on his breakout track, “Oh Yeah,” and now he’s serving it up on his new single “Fast Forward (FFWD).”  Both tracks will appear on the Barbardian star’s major label debut, Can I, due out this summer featuring credits from STARGATE (Beyonce, Rihanna), the Stereotypes (Ne-Yo, Mary J. Blige), Claude Kelly (Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears) and many more industry heavyweights.
From his music to his funky, quirky fashion sense complete with halo of hair, to his pure heart and warm sensibilities, Jaicko is the new fresh face of today.  “My lane,” he grins, “is wide open. This is something that I have been trying to do for years, to break out internationally. I built a fanbase back in Barbados so it’s a good feeling to take to the States and the rest of the world now.” Soon, the rest of the world will know that very good feeling, too.”
Get swept away by Jaicko’s intoxicating island brew on “Fast Forward (FFWD)” and sing along with the new lyric video.

Danny Gokey Is A Hit!

Danny-Gokeyx-large

Danny Gokey must be thrilled. His new album ‘My Best Days’ sold a whopping 65,000 in the first week alone!

That’s a few thousand better than Bucky Covington did with his debut a few years back, and that gives My Best Days the best first-week numbers for any new male country act since Billy Ray Cyrus’ Some Gave All did about 90,000 back in 1992.

Congratulations Danny! We saw him on American Idol last week and he was just so sweet.

Wishing him much success.
