Word Is: New DRAKE Is Amazing

Drake’s new songs are getting some serious praise.  The rapper’s debut album “Thank Me Later” comes out later this year, but the hip-hop community is already responding to the first single, “Over.”  DJ Statik Selektah said, “He could have chose to run with a soft, candy-coated record, but he didn’t.  The beat is crazy.  I’m looking forward to this album!”
DJ Khaled proclaimed, “It’s amazing!  It’s special!  Drake did it again!  It’s a hit!”  Host of MTV2’s “Sucker Free,” DJ Envy, said the material exceeds the sky-high expectations from the hip-hop fans, “I know he had a lot of pressure and the world staring at him, but I think he delivered.  He did it his way… outside the box.”
“Thank Me Later” is the official full-length DEBUT album to follow up Drake’s highly successful EP “So Far Gone.”
This is the year for Drake!  He needs to make sure his leg is fully healed before taking on the world though. XO

Drake EP Update‏

rapper-drake-030309Drake has trimmed his mixtape release from seventeen songs to just seven for an EP.  Tracks featuring Lloyd and Omarion will no longer be on the compilation, while songs from Bun B, Lil Wayne and Trey Songz remain.

The EP is called “So Far Gone” and is due out September 15th.

Apparently some fans may have thought Drake’s decision to turn the mixtape into an EP was a move to make money.  Drake says, “If you got it for free and want to keep it that way, then by all means I urge you to.”

So refreshing… a rapper not in it for fortune and bling! XOXO

Drake Will Have Knee Surgery

drake-lil-wayneDrake will NOT be taking part in any major activities anytime soon, he’ll be going under the knife for surgery to repair his torn ACL that was re-injured during his stage performance with Lil Wayne last month.

His operation is set for September 8, and he’ll need at least a few weeks of recovery time.

Let’s hope they can repair the double-damage.  XOXO

After re-injuring the torn ACL in his knee this past weekend, Drake took to his blog telling his fans the ailment could be very serious.  He wrote, “Lord only knows what other damage I have done.”  He also admitted his drive and passion superseded orders from his Doctor to leave his brace on.

Drake is scheduled for surgery this week.

With his highly anticipated debut album due out this fall, we hope he allows his knee to heal!

You’ve got a lifetime to perform Drake – but only one body!  Be well. XOXO

Drake Takes A Bad Fall‏

Drake

The music industry’s fastest rising star, Drake, looks to have seriously re-injured his knee.  The rapper/singer was not about to let his knee injury get in the way of his performance with Lil’ Wayne Friday night in Camden, New Jersey, but his knee had a mind of its own.

Drake was performing his hit song “Best I Ever Had” with Wayne when he suddenly collapsed on stage.

Drake was instructed by his doctor to wear a brace and not go too crazy until his knee healed, but Drake took the brace off before taking the stage.  We sure hope his Doctors warning about him never walking again if he tore his ACL a second time is NOT his fate.
This video is painful to watch.

Drake – listen to your Doctor this time!  And get well soon XOXO

Drake. The One To Watch‏

Drake

Drake

Pynk wants to make you aware of an amazing up-and-coming rap artist, DRAKE. This 22-year-old Canadian Lil Wayne protégé is destined for great things this year!

Drake was the most successful “unsigned” artist, until 3 days ago when Cash Money/Universal/Motown won one of the biggest bidding wars ever for him.

On the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated July 4, 2009, Drake has two songs in the top 10.  “Best I Ever Had” is #3 and “Every Girl” is at #10.  If either reaches the #1 position, Drake will be the second artist in history to have a #1 single without a recording contract.  The first was Lisa Loeb and Nine Stories with “Stay (I Missed You) back in 1993.

Drake has worked with Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Robin Thicke, Mary J. Blige, and Jamie Foxx, and has written for Dr. Dre.

Big things are in store for this summer.  Drake says “God willing… I will be on tour with some amazing people.  One of them being Jay-Z, one of them being Lil Wayne, one of them being Young Jeezy, and one of them being me.”
Drake’s official debut album will be released later this year.
Recently he has been romantically linked to Rihanna, but he says, “we’re just good friends.”

We’ll be watching a great 2009 unfold for Drake!  XOXO
