Drew Barrymore, together with John Krasinski of “The Office” will co-star in a new Universal film called “Whales.”  The movie is based on the real-life rescue of the three California gray whales that got trapped in the Arctic Circle in 1988.

Drew will play the role of a Greenpeace activist involved in the rescue, and John will play the small town journalist that broke the story.  Directing the film will be Ken Kwapis, who’s credits include “Parks and Recreation,” “The Office,” and “He’s Just Not That Into You.”

Seems like perfect casting!  Might be some tricky filming on the water with whales though. (?)

Drew Barrymore is in no rush to settle down. The actress is currently married to her work and her love for film.

“My films have been my love for so long. It is a little bit hard for me to decide what I want and where the future is going personally,” she said.

Barrymore who is 35 goes on to say “My life is great right now, I feel like I am exactly where I am supposed to be.”

“Falling in love with yourself is kind of interesting,” she said earlier this month. “You put so much stock into other people and then you’re like, ‘I’m going to just date me for a while’. I’m just finding a sense of calm. I feel like I’m getting smarter as I get older. But I will always be a hopeless romantic no matter what I learn.”

The actress read about health reform in the publication, which combines both US and international media into a weekly digest.

Congrats to the fabulous couple!

Kate Beckinsale and Drew Barrymore enjoyed a huge laugh, meeting up on the red carpet at the Hollywood AFI Fest premier of their new comedy, “Everybody’s Fine” in Los Angeles.  The film stars Robert DeNiro who plays a widower who’s three kids cancel their holiday trips to see him, so he embarks on journey to visit each of them.  Their lives turn out not to be as picture perfect as he had thought.

Drew Barrymore graces the cover of PARADE magazine and opens up about her directorial debut “Whip It” , happiness and love.

Here are a few highlights:

On happiness: “It feels as if I’m willing myself to be happy. I do feel as if I am thrusting myself forward all the time. Nancy, who runs my production company and is my favorite person I’ve met in my life so far, had on her refrigerator the sign ‘HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE.’ When I first saw it, I thought, ‘That is so simple and yet complex and wise.”

On Hollywood: “I’ve stopped believing in happy endings. I’ve started believing in good days. At the end of my movie, there’s honesty. There’s truth. There’s peace. What tomorrow will bring is still in question. There is a joy that’s earned by failure or triumph. All those things add up to teach us, if we are open to it.”
