Britney Spears and the Bad Romance singer had been neck-and-neck for the top Twitter title but Lady Gaga finally surpassed the Baby One More Time songstress on Saturday. By early today, Gaga had 5.745 million followers while Spears had 5.705 million.
In a satirical video of gratitude, Lady Gaga thanked her fans for the honour while holding a sceptre and wearing a pointy hat to inaugurate her reign as Twitter queen.
“Hello world, this is Lady Gaga, queen of Twitter,” the tweeting monarch said.
“I wanted to thank all my beautiful little monsters for following me…may you always have soft cuticles while tweeting and may you never have carpal tunnel.”
Lady Gaga gave a heartfelt speech in front of 80,000 Little Monsters on their feet Friday night as she kicked off the 2010 Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago. The singer shared a serious story about her dad that had many of those fans the most emotional and in tears.
Gaga told her audience her father Joseph Germanotta is her “inspiration,” and publicly thanked him for all he did to help her launch her career. She is especially grateful, she said, for the day he carried a piano up the stairs to her first apartment, an apartment he paid the rent on for a year while she struggled to get her first break.
Lady Gaga’s tour moves to Los Angeles Wednesday and Thursday and she is expected to have a star-audience both nights.
Fashion die-hard Lady Gaga tweeted – “Days off in the AZ Desert: Cactus fashion + Tequila. Can’t make me take off my leather, I would rather faint.”
Lady Gaga will be featured on the September 2010 cover for Vanity Fair magazine.

The newest internet sensation Greyson who was signed to a record deal after this video of him singing “Paparazzi” went worldwide finally met his inspiration Lady Gaga and tweeted the following:
An L.A. based string-quartet has an album of Lady GaGa cover songs coming July 27th. Vitamin String Quartet is performing instrumental versions of GaGa songs on the upcoming release to be titled “Vitamin String Quartet Performs Lady Gaga.”
The group has already covered the bands Muse, Coldplay, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. When asked why they chose GaGa, they said, “No other current artist seems to be channeling such primal forces in their music. That element is exactly what fuels VSQ’s sound.”

Don’t think that some hot rain is gonna stop Lady Gaga or her little monsters from what they had originally planned.
The singer calls them her “Little Monsters,” and they came in droves – more than 18,000 to see her perform Friday in Rockefeller Center for the Today show’s Summer Concert Series.
And Gaga, 24, did not disappoint, singing for a full half hour for the record-breaking crowd despite the rain that turned the plaza into a steam bath.
